Notice is hereby given that Hurricane City has received a proposal to create an agricultural protection area on the following parcels:        

H-3-2-3-304             containing 10.03 acres                                                                                        

H-3-2-3-241            containing 1 acre

The proposal is available for inspection in the office of the Hurricane City Planning Department at 147 N. 870 West, Hurricane, Utah during regular business hours.

Any person who may be affected by the establishment of the proposed agricultural protection area may, within 15 days of the date of this notice, file any written objections to the proposal or a written request to modify the proposal to exclude land from or add land to the proposed protection area.

This proposal will be submitted to the County Advisory Committee and the City Planning Commission for review and recommendations.

The City Council will hold a public hearing June 2, 2022 during their public meeting commencing at 6 p.m. at 147 N. 870 West, Hurricane, Utah (or electronically please check the agenda) to discuss and hear public comment on the proposal, the recommendations of the advisory committee and the planning commission, and any requests for modification of the proposal and any objections to the proposal.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF VACANCY AND APPLICATION PROCESS FOR INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS

Please be advised that a vacancy exists on the Hurricane City Council. The Hurricane City Council will act to fill this vacancy at a meeting to be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, TBD, at the Hurricane City Office, 147 N 870 West, Hurricane, UT.

Anyone interested in being appointed to fill this vacancy shall submit an application, a picture, a resume, and a brief 1-2 page written statement explaining why you are interested, how you are uniquely qualified to serve on the City Council, and any prior involvement in the City or community organizations or activities. In addition, please identify any concerns you have about the city and priority matters you hope to help address. Briefly explain your view on the constitution and the role of local government and your ability to put in the time to properly serve. Submit all documents to Cindy Beteag, Hurricane City Recorder at the same address. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications to be considered to serve on the City Council of Hurricane are as follows:

• Be a citizen of the United States

• Be a registered voter in Hurricane City

• Must be a resident of Hurricane or a resident of a recently annexed area of Hurricane for the previous twelve (12) months

• Not convicted of a felony*

*Utah Code §20A-2-101.5 states: A person convicted of a felony loses the right to hold office until (1) all felony convictions have been expunged, OR (2) ten years have passed since the most recent felony conviction AND the person has paid all court-ordered restitution and fines AND the person has completed probation, been granted parole, or completed the term of incarceration associated with the felony.

Hurricane City is working with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and other agencies on a water efficiency project that is proposed to expand the existing pressurized irrigation system.

An electronic copy of the Draft Plan-EA and other Project materials are available from the NRCS Project website.

The public is invited to attend a virtual public meeting on January 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Project information will be provided and comments will be solicited for the Project Draft Plan-EA.
