Peach Days
Peach Days 2023; August 31st to September 2nd.
Welcome to the 25th - Silver Anniversary year - of “Peach Days: A Celebration of our Heritage.” We are happy to have you join us for some “hometown fun” as we gather at Hurricane’s “old town square” each Labor Day weekend. We look forward to greeting our local citizens and visitors alike, as well as the many attendees of class and family reunions held each year at this time.
As always, there will be something for old and young alike, and you can come for free, or spend a little cash. We will start the week off with a Tuesday Golf Tournament, and a Wednesday - Thursday Pickleball Tournament. There will be a free “Silver Anniversary Concert” Wednesday night with our hometown favorites, John and Rick Houston and Nic Chamberlain.
The main event officially begins Thursday August 31 at 5:00 pm when we open with all the displays, quilt show, food, commercial and homemade sale booths, carnival, and three stages of continuous entertainment! These will continue throughout the event. Thursday through Saturday will also include the theater presentation “Newsies.” (7pm nightly with a 2 pm Sat. matinee.)
New this year is a three-night rodeo! Thursday is the Youth Rodeo, and Friday and Saturday an Open Rodeo (which means anyone can enter) with “traditional” rough stock and timed events. The rodeo begins nightly at 7 pm and is held at the new rodeo grounds near the airport.
Friday events add a Foam Dance, and the “Super Mario Brothers” Movie in the Park. Saturday extras include the Fun Run, Hurricane Canal Treks, the best parade in Washington County, HHS All Class Reunion, Pioneer Corner, and Peach Cook-off. We will top it off with fireworks Saturday evening, and the entire event will close Saturday night at 10:00 pm for another year.
We remind you that the 100 South road will be a one-way street for safety. Handicapped parking is on the corner of 100 S 100 W. Free parking is all along the streets, and the HHS and Red Brick Church parking lots. We will also have our traditional shuttles to help us get from our parking places to all the fun!
We are so happy to share this treasured community celebration with you, and hope you will have a wonderful “Peach “ filled week as you greet old friends, make some new ones, and store up lasting memories. We hope you will feel the heritage of this beautiful valley! “Peach Days” is a great way to top off the summer in our pleasant little Hurricane Valley. Hope to see you there!
Displays
Each year community members are encouraged to enter the Fine Arts; Home Arts; or Garden, Canning, Baking and Farm displays. Without the community participation, we could not have these displays! Please start now to work on an item to enter! We especially encourage entries in our garden/baking room – it is a larger room this year and we look forward to filling it with the agricultural side of our community. All entries receive a ribbon with a cash award. No previous entry/application is necessary. These items are to be entered Wednesday August 30, 2023 from 4 to 8:30 pm. They will be judged that evening.
