The Washington County GIS Department has several sources of county-wide mapping data available. You can order hard copy custom maps and download numerous informational maps in PDF format. Using the Recorder's Office Interactive map you can lookup parcel information, create your own PDF maps, and add your own labels and line work to those maps. A great tool for doing parcel research.
The Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center (AGRC) encourages and facilitates the effective use of geospatial information and technology within Utah. As part of that mission, the AGRC runs the State Geographic Information Database (SGID) which contains files and links to several categories of state-wide GIS data sets. All data listed in the SGID is considered to be in the public domain and is free for downloading. A great source of state-wide GIS data.
Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) are the developers of the popular ArcGIS suite of GIS programs and databases. ArcGIS is used extensively both within the state and by most local governments within Washington County. The City of Hurricane has adopted ArcGIS as the standard for our GIS development and production.
Trimble Navigation, Ltd. is the maker of high-quality surveying and mapping equipment. The City of Hurricane has adopted the Trimble GeoXT and GeoXH GPS handhelds for utility mapping and locating. These handhelds are capable of sub-centimeter accuracy after differential post-processing.
