Reverse 911
Residents of Hurricane City are encouraged to register their Voice Over IP phone (Magic Jack, Vonage, etc), cell phone or unlisted phone number with the Reverse 911 database at www.911register.com for emergency notification calls within Washington County only. This website is for people that live within Washington County to register their cell phones, unlisted number landline phones or Voice Over IP phones. Participants can register up to three different numbers per account. Regular landline phone numbers are already imported into the system from the phone company on a quarterly basis and do not need to be registered.
If an emergency in the area you live in happens, dispatch can highlight the area needed to notify; whether it be to evacuate, receive specific information about flooding or other potential natural disasters, or any other general information. The computerized system will start calling the phone numbers on file to alert the people that live within the specific area. If a resident does not have a landline with a listed number and does not register their cell or VOIP phone, then they will not be notified.
Please pass this information on to your friends and family within Washington County. Registration is voluntary only and it is up to individual residents to decide which numbers to list in the system.
