Planning Department is charged with the review of all new residential, commercial, and industrial projects within the City of Hurricane. We take into account zoning, parking requirements, setbacks, heights, landscaping, and building materials. We also review floodplain issues.
The Planning and Zoning processes and procedures include appearing before the Planning Commission.

Residents and/or business owners with property in the "A" flood zones are eligible for Newly Mapped flood insurance rates but ONLY if the NFIP flood insurance policy is purchased on or before March 1, 2016. Anyone can buy flood insurance but the rates in an "A" zone can be much higher than other zones. Take advantage of this chance to save while protecting your property right away.
