Who We Are
The Hurricane Animal Shelter serves all of Hurricane City. Our shelter is a very modern and attractive facility. Our building is not only user friendly for visitors and staff, but also caters to the needs and comforts of our four-legged guests. Our successful adoption rates are close to the highest in the State. This a statistic we are very proud of and work hard to maintain. We are staffed by one full-time animal control officer and one part-time animal control officer, one part-time shelter attendant and a number of wonderful and dedicated volunteers.
Special Events
The annual Rabies Vaccination and Dog Licensing Clinic will be held on Saturday, February 25 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hurricane Animal Shelter. This is the last chance of the year for the discounted fees listed below.
- Rabies Vaccination $14.00
- Spayed/Nutered License Fee $10.00 (must show proof)
- Unaltered License Fee $22.00
Spayed/Nutered License Fees increase to $20 after this date.
Licenses available for Hurricane Residents. Please have all dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier. Call the Shelter office for more information.
Adopting a Friend
Adoption fees at our shelter are $30.00 for dogs and $20.00 for cats. (Click here for fee schedule) All adopted animals are required to be spayed or neutered before placement in their new homes. Juvenile animals are adopted with a contract requiring the animal to be spayed or neutered by the date specified in the agreement.
The two Hurricane Veternary Clinics in Hurricane offer discounted vaccinations, low cost spay/neuter and a free health exam at the time of adoption. Click here for a list of pets currently available at this shelter.
Come Visit Us!
Our shelter is located in Southern Utah, in the City of Hurricane which is approximately 20 miles NE of St. George. We are on 700 W, exactly two miles south of scenic US Highway 9. Please call to insure someone is available at the shelter before you go.
