Utah State Code and Hurricane City Code require that a Planning Commission be established. The Planning Commission promotes orderly development within the city and makes land use recommendations to the city council.
Applications considered by the Planning Commission for recommendation to the City Council include general plan amendments, zone changes, and subdivisions. The Planning Commission is the deciding body on conditional use permits and site plans
Planning Commission members are appointed by the mayor with the consent of the Council. The eight Commission members serve as unpaid volunteers.
